The „Mihai Ionescu” School and the Labyrinth Church
For almost 100 years, various buildings specific to the traditional fabric of the Jewish Quarter were erected on the site studied. These buildings were essentially the cradle of the Adventist community. Over the course of a century, educational activity was to be found from the very beginning, with pastoral schools as well as grammar school, nurses' school, music school, trade school, vocational tailoring school, publishing house and premises for music education. In the course of the evolution of this space charged with significance, a place was developed with two main functions: church and school - these two programmes being differentiated and overlapping, with small functional overlaps. A project with spaces developed on several levels, special structural elements - post-tensioned or spectacular cassetted slabs of exposed concrete, corridors and halls that facilitate the holistic educational process, light, views, elements that preserve the charged memory of the community, all these define this challenging project.
